Monte Chiaro Supertuscan Summertime 2025

Everyone is always asking what a “Supertuscan” really is and how to recognize one. The story often recalls French grape varieties blended with Sangiovese, but few people know that the very first Supertuscan was created just a few steps from Montechiaro, thanks to our former estate manager together with the renowned Giulio Gambelli.

In 1968, Vigorello opened the door to a new era of experimental, groundbreaking wines throughout Chianti. Our Primum remains true to that vision: a rich, elegant wine made exclusively from carefully selected Sangiovese.

To truly understand a Supertuscan, you need to place each vintage in context. With this special pack, you can collect and enjoy two vintages side by side over the years. Bottle aging is crucial to express the terroir in a Supertuscan, which is why tasting the bold, concentrated 2019 alongside the smooth, elegant 2020 is essential.

Even more niche are white Supertuscans — long-lived wines born in Chianti to highlight the marine-calcareous soils of the region. Arteliquida Bianco is the only wine of its kind in the world: after 18 years of life, it continues to showcase both its extraordinary aging potential and the character of rare varieties such as Viognier and the uniquely Italian Manzoni Bianco (a cross of Pinot Bianco and Riesling).

Montechiaro White Supertuscan - Arteliquida 2024 × 4

Ships after June 23rd

Arteliquida is a one-of-a-kind project that brings together art and wine to visually represent the many aspects of the world of wine while highlighting both content and artistic expression. This unique Super Tuscan white wine blends rare grape varieties, including Trebbiano, Malvasia Bianca, French Viognier, and the rare Manzoni (RieslingxPinot Bianco), connecting Tuscan heritage with the wider world. Each grape variety contributes to the wine's unique character: Trebbiano forms the backbone, Malvasia offers body, Viognier brings perfume and roundness, and Manzoni provides the aromatic profile. The label is a reinterpretation of the traditional bottle and glass concept, with the two intertwined in a single shape that appears as both an emptying bottle and a refilling glass. Arteliquida is truly a masterpiece that blends wine and art.
