Château de Minière is located in Bourgueil in Loire Valley, between Tours and Saumur, about 2h45 south of Paris. The Château was acquired in 2010 by a Belgian couple, Kathleen Van den Berghe and Sigurd Mareels. Kathleen continues the centuries old tradition of female management of the estate.
The vineyard covers 15 hectares, all 100% Cabernet Franc, with more than 6 hectares of old vines with an average age of 55 years and more than one hectare of vines more than one century old. The vines are spread over the entire appellation’s terroir, from the gravel soils near the Loire, to the clay-tuffeau and clay-quartz soils of the hillsides overlooking the valley. In 2013 Château de Minière was awarded certification for organic farming and vinification, maintaining the health of the soil and purity of the cabernet franc variety.
The harvest is done by hand. Château de Minière is located close to the Loire river, amidst the historical castles of the Loire Valley, and on regional bicycle routes and walking trails. Its 16th century tuffeau stone manor with its historical park, surrounded by vineyards, is an ideal setting for Wine Tourism and wine-related activities. The multi-lingual team welcomes individuals and groups for a tasting and visit of the estate, guided by the motto “A complete wine experience”.
