Domaine de Courcel Bourgogne Rouge 2014
100% Pinot Noir
A beautiful light purple, the aromas hint at both red and dark currant, black cherry, and warm earth aromas. The mouth feel is light and pleasant followed by very round medium-bodied flavors that also display a hint of mocha. At 8 years of age, this wine is at its perfect maturity for drinking now.
|TYPE OF WINE|
In the hands of the de Courcel family since the 16th century, this prestigious domaine covers 22 acres of vineyards located exclusively in the commune of Pommard. It includes the best Premiers Crus of the village, particularly the Grand Clos des Epenots, monopole of the domaine. Its current owners, three sisters and one brother, are the descendants of the founders. Today, the estate is managed by Anne Bommelaer and Marie de Courcel.
The winemaking is done over a period of one month. After a thorough selection, grapes are delicately deposited in a wine vat. Cold maceration followed by low-temperature fermentation enables a better extraction of the aromas of the wine. The process ends with a final post-fermentation carbonic maceration adapted to each cuvée. The maturing is done in carefully selected oak barrels, which are replaced each third year. After a one month extraction, the wine is matured during a period of 21 to 23 months. After racking, the wines are bottled without any treatment or manipulation.
