Voted International Best of Wine Tourism 2018, the chateau lies at the confluence of the Dordogne and Garonne rivers. Ideally located in the heart of the Bordeaux Château de REIGNAC is a family owned estate. Built during the 16th century it was bought in 1990 by Yves and Stéphanie VATELOT. They have worked continuously ever since to restore the estate to its former glory while constantly introducing numerous innovations, including hiring the very talented Michel Rolland as their consulting oenologist!
All those efforts were rewarded when REIGNAC was competing in a blind tasting organized with worldwide renowned wine professionals. Among some of the best Bordeaux Grand Cru, REIGNAC ranked second out of an amazing field, proving Yves Vatelot was right to believe in the potential of his wine.
REIGNAC is tasted and highly praised almost every year by Robert Parker: “Yves VATELOT successfully managed to produce a wine overreaching its designation of origin”. REIGNAC is also regularly mentioned by some of the best winepress as a solid value and constant success. REIGNAC is now available to be on your doorstep!
This consistent overachiever from proprietor Yves Vatelot is a blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. By keeping yields to Cru Classé levels of 35 hectoliters per hectare and using high-quality oak, Vatelot is able to produce a wine far above its humble pedigree. The 2012 is a serious wine – structured, deep ruby/purple, with excellent concentration, impressive purity, excellent integration of new oak, and a long finish. This is a major sleeper of the vintage and another classic offering from Reignac.” Perfect to drink now, the nose is very complex, the tannins are perfectly integrated, there is a lot of roundness and softness.
A very elegant and subtle wine. Good to drink now, and you can also age it for 10 to 15 years. Aged 18 months in french oak, from 40 year old vines. In a 2009 blind tasting is a must-see video!
