Made with Cabernet Sauvignon and a small percentage of Cabernet Franc grapes, this powerful and elegant wine is the most important "Cru" of the Estate, the maximum expression of its native exceptional "terroir". Full and seductive body, dark spice flavors, enveloping and long taste.
A generous, rounded red wine, destined for short to medium ageing, (if you can!) with delicious aromas of currants and generous fruit flavours, versatile enough to develop in greater depth during long months in the bottle. This wine has to be the best quality for the price wine in our store. We can't recommend this enough....
The wine named 1.618 is obtained from grapes of French Merlot clone grown at 310 meters above seal level in the area surrounding Cortona, in Tuscany. The soil is clay-rich and the cultivation system is spurred by a density of 7934 plants per hectare and a production of approximately 1.1 kg of grapes per plant. The bunches to be used are selected on the plant during vintage, which takes place in the second half of September.
Blend of Merlot 60%, Cabernet Franc 30%, Syrah 10%
A wonderfully floral bouquet of roses and lavender with hints of raspberries. A juicy, succulent full body enveloped by velvety tannins before a sophisticated finish. The use of barrique comes across nicely but not too much. A very well-made, sexy wine.
Distinguished by its elegance and its deep ruby red colour this wine presents a good concentration on the mid-palate and a persistent aftertaste, with a rounded and voluptuous body, and interesting, silky tannins. It unites potency and elegance and with its tempting perfumes of red berries and its clean freshness, the complexity of this wine presents an excellent balance. To fully appreciate its qualities, decant the wine at least one hour before serving.
